This beautiful, highly polished burl wood kaleidoscope is a great gift for anyone! Burls are rare because they come from the tree growth in which the grain has grown in a deformed manner. A burl is commonly found in a form of a rounded outgrowth on a tree trunk or branch, and is filled with small knots from dormant buds. A burl resulted when a tree had undergone some kind of stress. Burl's are prized for it's beauty by many. A burl's rarity adds to its expense. Due to the rarity of these burl kaleidoscopes we only have them periodically. The kaleidoscope measures 6" long and has a diameter of about 1 1/2". The colorful beads inside the dry cell are seen through a 3 mirror system that gives the image a quilted look. The base is 3 1/2" long,1 1/8" wide and 1" tall.
